St. Louis Comedy Guide 2024

From national names in comedy to local St. Louis legends, these are some comedy performances you simply can’t miss. Well, I guess you could, but why would you when we put them together in such a nice list?  

SPOILER ALERT – St. Louis has a LOT of comedy. You’re in town, and you want comedy any day of the week. We’ve got you covered. We have plenty of recurring shows, from open mics to improv! Head to the end of the list for our recommendations.

How do we fill this list? Great question! Here is the short answer – it’s not easy. We are here to lift up all the artists, arts programs, and arts organizations who make St. Louis great. If you don’t see a show on the list, it’s possible we just forgot to add it. Special Event: Mojo Brookzz 

Hailing from Chicago, comedian Mojo Brookzz has accumulated millions of followers on Facebook and TikTok over the past nine years from writing and performing viral video skits, putting him in national spotlight.

My Brother, My Brother and Me  

Along with “My Brother, My Brother and Me” (a podcast and TV show), the McElroy Brothers host nine active podcasts (18, if you include the podcasts that have ended), write comic books, and even made an appearance in the Dreamworks motion picture film “Trolls World Tour.”

Nate Bargatze: The Be Funny Tour 

Hailed this year as “The Nicest Man in Stand-Up” by The Atlantic Magazine, Grammy-nominated comedian and podcaster Nate Bargatze is selling out shows across the world. Bargatze’s comedy is both clean and relatable, and he has been featured on Comedy Central, Netflix, “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” “Conan,” and more.

A true comedic heavyweight, MADtv standout Aries Spears always comes loaded with the best impressions in the game and a unique take on everything from sports to current events.

The Garage At Helium: Doug Key 

Doug Key’s comedy album “Mother of the Year” topped number one on the iTunes comedy charts in 2023. The New England comedian performs in comedy clubs and independent venues nationwide, and his talents have been displayed on MTV, ABC, VH1, Comedy Central Digital, and a brief cameo in the Amazon Prime series “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.”

Guy Torry: Special Engagement 

Multi-talented Guy Torry has been seen on Comic View on BET, Premium Blend on Comedy Central, Showtime at the Apollo and “Def Comedy Jam,” where he made his stand-up debut to a national audience.

Jeremy Hellwig Stand-Up Special 

Jeremy is a stand-up comedian, podcaster, and playwright based in St. Louis who does standup all over the Midwest and beyond. He has performed at Flyover, Bird City, Big Pine and Memphis Comedy Festivals.

Sarah Squirm: Live + In The Flesh 

Sarah Sherman aka Sarah Squirm is currently in her third season on Saturday Night Live and recently co-starred with Adam Sandler in the Netflix film “You Are SO Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah!”

Jon Reep: Special Engagement 

Jon Reep is a nationally touring comedian whose contemporary country point of view has won over legions of fans in comedy clubs, on TV and in film.

Demetri Martin 

Demetri Martin is a standup comedian, writer and director. He won the Perrier Award at the International Fringe Festival in Edinburgh for his one-man show, “If I,” and he has released three standup comedy albums and four hour-long standup comedy specials, including his latest for Netflix, “The Overthinker.”

David Koechner: Special Engagement + The Office Trivia with “Todd Packer” 

Actor, writer and producer David Koechner is well-known for his roles as Todd Packer on “The Office” and Champ Kind from “Anchorman” and “Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.”

Puppeteers For Fears Presents: Cthulhu: The Musical! 

Puppeteers for Fears is an Oregon-based comedy troupe specializing in original horror and science fiction rock’n’roll musicals performed with puppets. They have written and performed six original rock and roll musicals, covering everything from supernatural monsters to killer robots and lonely sasquatches.

Special Event: Conner O’Malley  

Chicago comedian Conner O’Malley has written for HBO’s “How to with John Wilson” and “Joe Pera Talks with You” and has acted on shows “I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson,” “Louie,” Detroiters,” and “Joe Pera Talks with You.”

Jordan Klepper: Suffering Fools Tour  

Jordan Klepper’s Suffering Fools captures the pain and foolishness of our current moment, told through personal stories from Jordan’s time on the road, from presidential run-ins to the lovely insurrectionists one meets on the path to anarchy. Klepper is best known for his work with “The Daily Show” and his multiple Emmy-nominated specials focusing on the political world.

Dale Jones: Special Engagement 

For the past 25 years, Dale Jones has combined his machine gun-style delivery with quick improvisations, physical comedy and highly animated faces to put on a show that leaves the audience “wishing they had his energy.” He has appeared on numerous comedy television shows, including “The Last Comic Standing” on NBC and “The Very Funny Show” on TBS.

Helium Presents: Ron Funches 

Triple threat Ron Funches is an excellent stand-up comedian, actor and writer. He is known for lending his voice to projects like “Trolls,” “Bob’s Burgers,” and “Adventure Time,” or for his memorable acting roles on “The Goldbergs,” “Black-ish,” “New Girl,” “Transparent,” “Powerless,” and “Undateable.”

The Daily Beans Live! 

Enjoy a special live episode of “The Daily Beans” podcast, created and co-hosted by Dr. Allison Gill and Dana Goldberg, where they serve up social justice, politics, and news with swearing five days a week.

Special Event: Chris Redd 

St. Louis native and Emmy-award-winning Chris Redd is an actor, writer, stand-up comic and rapper. He is a cast member on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” and has been seen in “Kenan” on NBC, “Bust Down” on Peacock and his comedy special “Why Am I Like This?” on HBO.

The Future Is Female+ 

The Future is Female+ is a reoccurring local St. Louis comedy series that features a lineup of all female-identifying comics.

Cousin Tiera 

Tiera is a standup comedian known for making the world laugh via her viral videos on social media. She is more than just an Internet sensation, and since 2016, she has been rocking shows across the globe with her raw and relatable comedy and storytelling.

Kevin Hart: Acting My Age 

Emmy and Grammy-nominated comedian and actor Kevin Hart has become Hollywood’s box office powerhouse over the years, opening eleven films at number one at the box office and grossing more than $4.23 billion global revenue.

Dumb Dads Live! 

“Dumb Dads Live!” is the debut tour featuring comedians Evan Berger and Kevin Laferriere as they host a night out for parents. After having kids of their own with their respective families, they decided to apply their comedy chops to challenge the lazy dad joke tropes and share their engaged take on modern parenthood on social media.

Sammy Obeid 

Lebanese-Palestinian American stand-up comedian Sammy Obeid hosts 100 Humans on Netflix and has appeared on “Last Comic Standing,” “America’s Got Talent” and “Conan,” and is known for his world record of performing comedy 1,001 nights in a row, a story featured in both Time Magazine and The New York Times.

Late Night With Ler & Lionel 

Podcasters Ler and Lionel created one of the most exhilarating, unfiltered, inclusive and sex-positive podcasts in the country, and they’re taking it to the stage for a judgment-free good time.

Ben Bailey: Special Engagement 

Comedian Ben Bailey drove the smash hit series “Cash Cab” for over 550 episodes, earning multiple Daytime Emmy Awards. Before becoming “the Cash Cab guy,” he performed at The Comedy Store in LA, in clubs across NYC and at major comedy festivals around the world.

Braelyn Greenfield, better known as B. Simone, is a comedian, actress, singer and influencer from Dallas who is known for being a cast member on the hit MTV series “Wild ‘N Out.”

Beach Too Sandy, Water Too Wet 

Beach Too Sandy, Water Too Wet is a comedy podcast featuring dramatic readings of one-star reviews, written by real people with not-so-real problems. Prepare for equal amounts of laughter and eye-rolling as siblings Xandy and Christine read reviews of local hotspots.

Greg “G” Williams’ comedic style arises from his day-to-day life as a male nurse. “Nurse’s Night Out” started in 2013 at The San Jose Improv as a show dedicated to our heroes working in the medical field and expanded across the U.S.

Finesse Mitchell is an actor, author, and comedian known for his diverse roles on platforms like Hulu, Fox, and Netflix. He’s starred in numerous comedy specials and TV shows, such as Saturday Night Live, where he was known for characters like Starrkeisha, 50 Cent and Morgan Freeman.

Malik has millions of followers and viewers across social media platforms, where he performs viral sketches as multiple “toxic” but relatable characters. Kathy Griffin: My Life on the PTSD-List Tour 

Kathy Griffin is a two-time Emmy and Grammy Award winning comedian, television star, best-selling author and advocate known for her biting satire and fearless comedy. The legendary performer holds the Guinness Book of World Records for writing and starring in an unprecedented 20 televised stand-up specials.

David Cross: The End of The Beginning of The End 

Emmy Award winner and two-time Grammy Award nominee David Cross is an inventive performer, writer, and producer on stage and screen and is best known for playing Tobias Fünke in the Fox/Netflix sitcom “Arrested Development.”

Craig Conant: Special Engagement  

A standout at the “Just for Laughs Festival” in Montreal, Los Angeles-born Craig Conant can be found on the “Greatest Party Story Ever Told ” on MTV and his podcast “Community Service.”

Tom Segura: Come Together  

Actor, comedian, and writer Tom Segura is one of the biggest names in comedy. His new tour, “Come Together,” follows his highly successful world tour, “I’m Coming Everywhere World Tour,” where he performed over 300 shows.

An Evening with David Sedaris 

With sardonic wit and incisive social critiques, David Sedaris has become one of America’s leading humor writers. Following the release of his newest books, “Happy Go Lucky” and “Pretty Ugly,” this is a unique opportunity to see the best-selling humorist in an intimate setting where he will offer a selection of all-new readings and recollections, a Q&A session, and a book signing.

Clint Coley: My Edible Wore Off Tour 

Clint Coley is this era’s new breed of do-it-all comedy star. He is a multi-talented creator and executive producer of “The World Series of Spades” and has released four comedy albums: “Tuesday Morning” “I’m An Adult” “Sturgis” and “Sensitive.”

Chelsea Handler: Little Big Bitch Tour 

Chelsea Handler is a comedian, TV personality, author and activist, known for hosting her popular late-night talk show, Chelsea Lately.

Josh Johnson is an Emmy-nominated writer, stand-up comedian, actor, and NAACP award-winner. He is currently a writer on “The Daily Show” and is Comedy Central’s ‘most watched comedian ever’ with 40M+ views to date across their platforms.

Flyover Comedy Festival

Greg Warren: Special Engagement + All Ages Family Show  

Hailing from St. Louis, Greg Warren is a stand-up comedian who highlights self-deprecation, frustration, and an arsenal of lifelike characters in his comedy. He has been seen on “Coming to the Stage” on BET, “Comedy Stage” on CMT and “Comedy Central Presents” on Comedy Central.

Jared Freid is a stand-up comedian with a strong focus on dating and relationships. He has performed on “The Tonight Show” and was named one of Just for Laughs New Faces of Comedy in 2017. His comedy reflects the ordinary, daily thoughts of millennials, from obsessing over dating apps to trying to be real adults.

Eddie Griffin

A popular comedian turned actor who started his career on-stage as a dare, funnyman Eddie Griffin has built an ever-growing fan base since jumping onto the comedy scene in 1990. He received rave reviews for his comedy special, “Eddie Griffin: Undeniable” on Showtime and appeared in the Academy award-winning film “A Star is Born.”

Michael Yo: Special Engagement
