ABOUT BRANDON ANSCHULTZ

Brandon Anschultz is an artist whose work explores craft at the intersection of painting, sculpture, and installation. His work delves into themes of queer identity, truth, rage, and personal narrative, often camouflaging and highlighting these concepts. He also creates thematic bodies of work that delve deeper into specific ideas. The use of color and material exploration is central to his artistic practice.

Brandon received a BFA in Painting and Drawing from Louisiana Tech University in 1997 and an MFA focusing on Printmaking and Drawing from Washington University in St. Louis in 2002. He has exhibited widely in St. Louis and throughout the country. He has had solo exhibitions at The Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, Laumeier Sculpture Park, Regards (Chicago), White Flag Projects, COCA, and Philip Slein Gallery, among others. He has participated in group exhibitions at Columbia College (Chicago), The Brooks Museum (Memphis), Truman State University, The Charlotte Street Foundation (Kansas City), Tiger Strikes Asteroid (Philadelphia), Front Desk Apparatus (New York), and Monte Vista Project (Los Angeles), among many others. He is in the permanent collection of the St. Louis Art Museum, the Memphis Brooks Museum, and many private collections.
