June 14 – 18 | A Midsummer Night’s Dream
Opera Theatre of Saint Louis
When fairies and mortals cross paths, mayhem is sure to follow. Fairy king Oberon and his wife Tytania are locked in a quarrel when a group of unhappy young lovers wanders into their forest. Oberon dispatches the mischievous sprite Puck to resolve the young lovers’ strife with the help of a magical elixir… but when Puck applies that elixir to the wrong people, chaos erupts across the forest. The young paramours enter a dark and surreal dream world where plans of revenge go hand-in-hand with seduction. Britten’s hypnotizing score sets the perfect atmosphere for this journey into love’s absurdities. This year marks the start of the Opera Theatre of Saint Louis’ 50th season.

For its 39th year St. Louis’ Circus Flora is returning with performances set to awaken your excitement and sense of curiosity. July 8 – August 17 | Romeo & Zooliet
St. Louis Shakespeare Festival
Looking for a way to introduce your children to art while they are on summer break? The St. Louis Shakespeare Festival has created a special production that speaks specifically to these young artists with its unique take on Romeo and Juliet. Premiering on July 8 and showing until August 17, the performance will feature puppetry at the St. Louis Zoo that begs the question: What happens when the gates of the zoo close and the keepers go home for the night? This production features dazzling animal puppetry by world-renowned Michael Curry Design, known for its work on Broadway’s “The Lion King”!

July 11 – 27 | 11th Annual Labute New Theater Festival
St. Louis Actors’ Studio + The Gaslight Theatre
This marks the return of the nearly month-long LaBute New Theater Festival. Neil LaBute received his Master of Fine Arts degree in dramatic writing from New York University and was the recipient of a literary fellowship to study at the Royal Court Theatre and also attended the Sundance Institute’s Playwrights Lab. LaBute will delight with his own new story as they present winning submissions from both high school and emerging professional playwrights.

Union Avenue Opera
Presented together, Josephine and Pagliacci explore the complex interplay between performance and personal turmoil. In Josephine, Tom Cipullo brings to life the intimate reflections of Josephine Baker, the trailblazing entertainer and activist from St. Louis, MO, as she navigates the tension between her public persona and private struggles with love, identity, and racism. In Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci, the inner turmoil of a traveling actor troupe explodes into violence as Canio, the troupe’s lead clown, confronts his wife Nedda’s betrayal, shattering the boundary between performance and reality. Both works reveal the emotional depths of performers whose onstage lives mask profound personal pain. Together, they create a compelling evening of raw humanity and unflinching artistry.

August 7 – 30 | The Second Hurricane
Stray Dog Theatre
The Second Hurricane is a youth opera by Aaron Copland with libretto by Edwin Denby. Written specifically for young people and set during the Great Depression, it tells the story of high school students who become trapped on an island while working to rescue the victims of a hurricane. During the adventure, the students learn tolerance, courage, and the spirit of freedom in a time of danger.

The New Jewish Theatre

The Fabulous Fox Theatre
Based on a novel of the same name, the theatrical performance of Life of Pi follows the journey of a 16-year-old boy stranded at sea who is joined by hyena, a zebra, an orangutan and a Royal Bengal tiger.
