St. Louis is continuously being recognized as a center of arts and culture, and this year will be no exception. The Washington Post says the St. Louis Art Museum (SLAM) is the place to go this spring to catch one of the “best new art shows” in the country.
SLAM is hosting Matisse and the Sea, featuring work from Henri Matisse from Feb. 17 through May 12. It’s the first-ever exhibit to examine the significance of the sea throughout Matisse’s career. This exhibit features paintings, sculptures, paper cut-outs, drawings, prints, ceramics, and textiles.
The show was listed alongside other well-known museums, such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the National Gallery of Art in Washington. St. Louis was also recently recognized as one of the cities with art exhibitions worth traveling to in 2024 by Lonely Planet.
